ROUND THE CLOCK RADIO AT MONTROSE INFIRMARY
Radio North Angus, the voluntary organisation that operates the Independent Local Radio in the Arbroath area, and hospital radio services throughout Angus, is to open a new radio station at Montrose Royal Infirmary on 1 November at 8.00pm.
The ceremony is to be conducted by Mr Murray Petrie, who is Chairman of Tayside Primary Care NHS Trust, and a Non-Executive Member of Tayside Health Board, and the first programme will be presented by Eileen Brymer of Montrose.
In addition to accommodation and finance provided by the NHS, contributions have been received from the National Lottery Awards for All Scheme, Glaxochem, and the League of Friends of Montrose Hospitals.
It was planned that the Service would transmit each evening, but the installation of a relay system will facilitate 24-hour broadcasting, on 87.7FM.
In effect, music based programmes containing information specific to Montrose will be broadcast between 6.00 and 10.00pm, and the Local Radio Service based in Arbroath, which includes news pertaining to North Angus, will be transmitted outwith these times.
In addition to general music, the Montrose format will include programmes specialising in Contemporary and Traditional Scottish, Folk, Country and Western, Easy Listening, Jazz, Religious, Old Gold, and Charts, to accord with the RNA policy of providing variety.
It is intended to expand the Montrose - based Service with the recruitment of additional volunteers from the town.
The organisers are keen to broadcast a wealth of local information, therefore groups and organisations are invited to send, or hand in, details of activities to the Infirmary.
Anyone with an interest in programming, for which full training is given, should contact Malcolm Finlayson, Honorary Secretary.
