Radio North Angus, the voluntary organisation that operates an Independent Local Radio Station based within Arbroath Infirmary, and serves Stracathro Hospital, Brechin and Forfar Infirmaries, by means of hospital broadcasting stations and relays, has commenced a 24 hour per day service.
In June, RNA received a grant of £6400 from the Lloyd TSB Foundation as a contribution towards the installation of a computer-based Programme Management System, that, along with many other facilities, can maintain 24 hour transmissions.
The Organisation broadcasts a wide music based format, promoting health, welfare, voluntary organisations, educational establishments, and the local economy, principally from the Independent Local Radio station situated within Arbroath Infirmary, and a further station is due to commence transmissions at Montrose Infirmary within a few months.
Daytime programming has been maintained from 7.30am to 11.30pm for the past three years, and the introduction of the service outwith these times has introduced round-the-clock broadcasts of a similar format, designed to be of benefit to listeners seeking entertainment during night hours.
The night service entitled "Right through the night" commenced on 9 September 2000 and can be heard on 96.6FM over a wide area. The service is relayed to Stracathro Hospital, and also via a transmitter broadcasting on 87.7 FM, situated at Brechin Infirmary.
Anyone with an interest in joining RNA, or who would wish information broadcast, is invited to contact the Honorary Secretary:
