Radio North Angus, the voluntary organisation that operates an Independent Local Radio Station in Arbroath and Hospital Radio services throughout Angus, has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Charities Board.
Under the Awards for All Scheme, £2000 has been allocated to assist with the establishment of a new radio station to be based within Montrose Infirmary that is due to commence transmissions within the next few months, on 87.7FM.
Construction of the studio facilities has commenced, and it is intended that the station will broadcast for four hours per day initially, with the probability of expansion thereafter.
A broad music - based format with community information is planned, and vacancies exist for prospective presenters. The Grant will spplement a donation of £500 received recently from the League of Friends of Sunnyside and Montrose Infirmary.
The amount represents the second grant received from the Charities Board, which allocated £11,800 in 1996 towards the costs of a second studio within Arbroath Infirmary.
Anyone with an interest in joining RNA, or who would wish information broadcast, is invited to contact the Honorary Secretary:
