We have recently been upgrading the Stracathro radio station to become a centre of radio communication for the people of North Angus, negating the present requirement to travel to Arbroath to participate in our broadcasts.
Over the past two years, we have reinstalled a transmitter at Stracathro, and extensively upgraded the studio and IT equipment from hospital radio to independent local radio requirements, the majority of the cost being borne by a grant from the Angus Council Community Grants Scheme. Separate telephone line and broadband facilities have recently been installed that allow for live programming to be relayed from Stracathro to the main transmission system in Arbroath, and subsequently broadcast on FM, DAB, and the internet. We have recently appealed in the Brechin Advertiser for volunteers specifically for the Stracathro station, and new members are currently being trained.
